South Hook LNG Terminal’s support for the people of Pembrokeshire was evident once again, during a recent visit to Narberth Rugby Club - where the work of the local ‘Living Memory Group’ wsa highlighted.
Having supported the Club with a donation of £5000 towards the cost of a new heating system, the South Hook’s Community Fund – run in partnership with PAVS – is not only helping local rugby stars, but the many community groups and organisations that use the Club as a regular meeting place.
One such organisation is the Living Memory Goup – also a recipient of funding from South Hook.
Originally a meeting place for those living with dementia, their family and carers, the Group has grown in recent years, to welcome those experiencing bereavement, loneliness and social isolation, from across Pembrokeshire.
The twice-monthly gathering of the Group would not be possible, without the support of Narberth Rugby Club, who offer the space free of charge.
Hosting musical entertainment and encouraging intergenerational engagement, with the involvement of pupils from Narberth CP School once a month.
Those that head along to join the group, can enjoy the communal singing sessions with the ‘Elderlys’ band members.
The Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 1.30 to 3.30 pm.
“We are pleased to be able to support two wonderful organisations that are bringing huge benefit to our community,” said South Hook’s PR Manager, Mariam Dalziel.
“Narberth Rugby Club is an important sporting facility for our County but is also a welcoming meeting place for seventeen different community groups and charitable organisations.
“The wonderful work of the Living Memory Group, and many other valuable community services, could not happen without the generosity of the Club’s Committee” she said.
Commenting on the donation to the Living Memory Group, one of its founders Mary Adams, who is also a local Rotarian, said: “We are incredibly grateful to South Hook LNG for their generous support to our charity.
“Donations like this enable us to provide vulnerable individuals with opportunities of entertainment and social interaction at our group sessions held twice a month.”

John Lewellyn of Narberth Rugby Club commented: “The grants received by both the Rugby club and the Living Memory Group Charity from South Hook LNG greatly support our ongoing commitment to supporting community matters".
“It constantly surprises me as to the generosity and help we receive from businesses, organisations and individuals to make our community so successful. Thank you all.”
