Colleagues at a building society in Tenby saddled up to raise money for Marie Curie. The fundraising at Yorkshire Building Society branch, on Tudor Square, last Friday saw colleagues taking it in turns to accomplish the distance of the first stage of the Tour de France, 190 kilometres, on a static bike. Thanks to the generosity of customers and members of the public they have already raised a fantastic £330. "It was a real team effort cycling the first stage of the Grand Départ and we had fantastic support from our customers and passing members of the public to help us raise £330 for Marie Curie," said Sian Rees, manager of the Yorkshire's Tenby branch. "As Yorkshire Building Society is an official supporter of the Tour de France 2014 Grand Départ and Marie Curie is the official charity partner it made perfect sense to set ourselves a cycling challenge to celebrate the world's largest annual sporting event visiting our country." The sponsored bike ride was in aid of 'Hour of Need' - the new fundraising campaign by the Society and Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise £500,000 by December 2016, which equates to funding an hour of care by a Marie Curie Nurse for every hour of the campaign.
