With the depths of winter threatening to return with a vengeance over the weekend, the majority of games were able to go ahead despite some matches succumbing to the weather.

Narberth's anticipated Senior Cup game away at Tenby was postponed yet again and so, too, was the Bluebirds' second team home game against Lamphey.

There was no joy for Pendine's first team game home to Angle, while St. Clears' reserve team match at Fishguard in the first leg of the first round Division Five Cup was also postponed for the future.

Fortunately, Kilgetty were able to travel to Haverfordwest County for their Senior Cup round two match, although it wasn't the result they would have wanted.

With regular manager Norman James unavailable to take the side, it was left to last year's manager, Andrew Cope, to hold the reins of the young team at his disposal and for the majority of the first half it looked as though his influence was taking shape.

For the first 30 minutes, it was nip and tuck for both teams, before a breakaway goal by the home side gave them the advantage at the break.

Two quick goals by the home team within the first 10 minutes of the second half put paid to a comeback and when the fourth went in soon after there was no chance for Kilgetty to progress.

Nicky Cope did score a consolation at the end, but the home side were worthy winners as Cope senior could attest.

"It was a fair result really. We played well in parts, but they were just too clinical in the end and much fitter at this moment in time."

Carew player/manager Paul Bullock believes it's only a matter of time before his team hit theirs straps this season, despite losing 3-1 away at Milford United.

The visitors produced a solid first half performance to trail 1-0 at the break and equalised early in the second through an Ian Sefton goal, although the home team soon found their feet and put a further two past Bullock and his men.

"We played well for the first half and a good part of the second," said Bullock. "But then it fell apart. We're not getting any luck and are lacking self-belief, but I'm sure the tide will turn soon. We've got a stronger squad now than we did at the start of the season and it's only a matter of time before we find some form."

St. Clears were in league action at home to Milford Athletic and produced an excellent display to send the visitors packing with nothing to show for their efforts.

The Athletic have been flying high in this campaign, yet the Saints were marginally the better side throughout and they capitalised on this advantage.

Despite it being 0-0 at the break, the change in fortunes came in the second as Milford missed a gilt edged opportunity to go ahead when they failed to score form an open goal.

There was no similar mistake from young Steffan Jenkins as last year's second team player of the year scored from close range for the defining score of the match to give the Saints a 1-0 win.

Home team manager Charlie Smith said it was an excellent performance from his team.

"We could have won by more. Eddie Wiggins and Nathan Evans both went close after Jenkins scored, but although they shaded the first half, I think we did enough to win it."

A small pitch and a lack of composure conspired against Lawrenny as they lost 2-0 away at Broad Haven. With the home side utilising the conditions better through use of the long ball, the visitors found the going tough in an eventful game.

Both goals were scored in the first half. The first via a long ball and the second from the penalty spot after John Jolly was red-carded.

The home side had a player sent off early in the second to even matters out, but a lack of form in front of goal cost the visitors dear. Manager Neil Jolly had no complaints about the result.

"It was fair. If we had taken our chances we should have won the game, but it's the same old story, we're just not converting."

Meanwhile, in the same division, Manorbier United's home game against Fishguard was postponed.

Carew seconds' Division Four cup game against Prendergast Villa also fell foul of the weather, so too did Tenby's reserve team clash against Clarbeston Road.

St. Florence were able to travel to Milford Athletic. The game ended in a 2-2 draw, with Ashley Smith grabbing both goals for the visitors.

Pendine seconds drew 2-2 away at Letterston in their Division Five clash, while in the first leg of the second round of the Division Five Cup, Kilgetty gained the advantage over Lawrenny as they won 2-0.

It should have been three, but Robbie Beynon missed a first half penalty making it 0-0 at the break.

He made up for this in the second half with a good finish from a corner, while Jackie Simpson gave the visitors a better lead for the second leg with a score from a cross.

Despite the result, Lawrenny boss John Beff believes his side can turn it around in the next leg.

"We played ok considering we have only played once since December. There were a couple of positives to come out of this. It was disappointing to lose, but I'm sure we can win the next game when our match fitness improves."
