With the autumn rugby internationals ensuring a week off for the local rugby fraternity, it was left to the football fields of Pembrokeshire to provide the sights and sounds of the local sporting scene, providing of course, they didn't fall foul of the weather.
With the weekend split between the second round of the West Wales Cup and league action, a number of teams were handed an enforced break due to waterlogged pitches.
Kilgetty were one of these teams, but at least they were able to start their home game against Goodwick United in Division One, even though it was abandoned at half-time with the teams tied 1-1.
Narberth weren't even able to begin their match at CMB in the West Wales Cup as that was postponed, while elsewhere in the competition, St. Clears lost 2-0 away at Resolven; a result that did not please their manager Charlie Smith.
"They were poor and we were poorer, we just didn't turn up. We told the boys to go out there and enjoy it, but we expected them to perform. They didn't and we lost. It's as simple as that. We shouldn't have lost to a side like that."
Smith didn't even have the excuse that the pitch was unplayable due to the elements, adding that conditions were adequate to play on.
"We had a few showers, but they didn't affect the surface. They were a physical side, but not a good one. It's very disappointing."
In league action, Tenby proved that a good side never goes down without a fight as they clawed their way back from a 4-1 deficit to draw 4-4 away at Herbrandston.
It's the manner of the comeback that is most impressive as the visitors' final three goals came in the last five minutes of the match.
"They were gutted," said Tenby boss Mike Lewis. "Fair play, to come back like that was dramatic. Goldy (Ben Goldsmith) and Sonny (Parker) were outstanding for us and shows the character we have in this team.
"We didn't give up and played right until the end, although we let in some sloppy goals which is disappointing."
Two of these were conceded early in the first half before Daryl Mansbridge reduced the score to make it 2-1 at the break.
Two more defensive lapses allowed Herbie to increase their lead in the second, before Mansbridge added another, prior to Parker scoring the third and Goldsmith the final score with the last kick of the match.
Pendine travelled to Angle in Division Two and lost 6-1, while Saundersfoot Sports won 2-1 away at Camrose.
"The weather tried to ruin the game," said Daryl John. "But Dan Bates and Ross Gray brightened up the day which for two 18-year-olds was quite an achievement.
"We deserved it in the end. It was nice to win in the final minute as we have lost two like that this season, so we know how they felt when the final whistle went."
Camrose took a deserved 1-0 lead into the break before the Bates and Gray show got underway.
Despite playing against the elements, Bates scored to draw level before the Sports won as Gray turned and shot like a young Lee Trundle to slam the ball home.
In Division Three, Narberth Seconds pulled off a great win away at Lawrenny as they claimed the points following a 4-3 victory.
"It was a hell of a game," beamed player manager Mark O'Sullivan. "They battled well, but in the end I think we had a little too much for them and it showed."
Despite the victory, Narberth were 2-1 down at the break as Tom Richards helped ease the deficit with a late first half score after the home side scored twice.
Lawrenny added another in the second half, but a Paul Phillips strike reduced matters before Adi Jones drew the teams level prior to Jordan Williams's winner a few minutes before time.
Meanwhile, a Rob Thomas goal was all Manorbier United had to show for their trip away at Goodwick as they lost 3-1 to the home team.
The second leg of the Division Four Cup got under way, although Saundersfoot's Second team clash at home against Camrose was postponed.
St. Florence ensured they went through after an Ashley Smith goal gave them a 1-0 win away at Milford United. They won 3-1 on aggregate.
There was league action, too, in Division Four as Carew Seconds lost 5-1 at home against Clarbeston Road's reserves. Sam Goodwin scored for the home team. Meanwhile, Tenby Seconds won 4-1 away at Johnston.
Haydn Shapcott gave the visitors the lead, before the Tigers drew level, but after the break, it was one-way traffic as Gareth Warlow scored a successive, second half hat-trick. He's now scored eight goals in three games.
In the first leg of the first round of the Division Five Cup, Pendine's match against Lamphey was postponed, while St. Clears' Seconds ensured their second leg match away at Fishguard will be easier following a 4-0 home win where Simon Bancroft and Lloyd Evans both finished with two apiece.
Meanwhile, in Division Five league action, Kilgetty Seconds travelled to Neyland and won 7-2 thanks to hat-tricks from Robbie Beynon and Nick Cope, together with a solitary score from Chris Fearson.
