Tenby and County Club (sponsored by LG Leisure and Get Stuffed Pizza Co.) played host to Black Rabbit B on Sunday evening, in the semi-final of the D. T. Pearce Cup and were aggregate winners by 231-88.

Team was Glyn Davies in the singles, doubles of Dave Wooles and Darren Morgan, second singles, Steve Cook, last doubles of Martin Durham and Mark Cleevely.

The final was played at the Balfour Club in Haverfordwest, on Monday evening, again with two singles and two doubles, with the aggregate scores counting.

Tenby were up against Hakin Social B.

The first frame was the singles match of Steve Cook against Paul Hughes. Steve started cautiously and was clearly in determined mood. Tenby needed a good start in this aggregate game and with the draw going slightly their way, Steve started to come alive early on, potting some good balls.

However, Paul was an equally a good potter and put him under a lot of pressure early on, but back came Steve with a timely 15 break. Unfortunately he then left Paul on with an easy starter red, which he took and had a 14 break of his own.

Midway through the frame, it was the Hakin player who was 10 points ahead, but this was quickly wiped out by Steve, who regained the lead with a 16 break.

Steve then extended his lead with another small break and was 24 points up coming to the colours. Surely he couldn't lose the frame now and could amass a good lead for his team-mates; he eventually won by 28 points.

The second frame was the doubles of Dave Wooles and Martin Durham against Lee Frost and Adrian Mathias. The Tenby boys opened up an early lead with Dave's small break, and it was Dave again who extended that lead.

But back came Lee with a 23 break to take control. It was damage limitation for the Tenby men, as Hakin were on fire, with Adrian extending their lead to 21 points.

Martin and Dave were now playing to keep the score down, but they were being put to the sword by a very good pairing of Lee and Adrian. As the frame got to the colours, it was Hakin who were 36 pts in front, but it was all too painful, Martin and Dave losing by 72 points.

The third frame saw captain Glyn Davies take on Mark Nicholas. Glyn started the stronger, opening up a good early lead, but midway through, Mark came back to close the gap to six points. It was nip and tuck on the colours, but Glyn prevailed to win by 19.

The fourth and final frame was the doubles of Mark Cleevely and Darren Morgan, against Barry Mathias and Jason Hacket. The Tenby men opened up a good early lead thanks to Mark's 24 break.

With 25 points to catch up, things were looking good for Tenby to take the cup to go with the league championship, and they opened up a lead with a good break of 24 from Darren.

However, a very good snooker by Jason, had Darren on the back foot and as the frame went to the colours, Tenby were just 10 points up overall. Mark then potted the best balls of his life to take Tenby clear and see them complete a league and cup double.
