Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir have been fortunate in securing further sponsorship from two companies.

Already assisted in many valuable ways by Chevron through Phil Thompson, W. P. Lewis & Sons (Vauxhall agent) and Felinfoel Brewery have offered additional support to P&DMVC.

Photographed in their comfortable, homely practice room in St. Teilos, Pembroke Dock, W. P. Lewis general manager, Stuart Lewis, is seen with the choir showing off the new apparel of maroon jumpers provided as part of that arrangement. It ought to be mentioned that Stuart has more than a passing connection with the choir as his father was a founder member and conductor for over 40 years, his sister conducts now, his sister's husband is secretary and general factotum, his niece accompanies and his nephew Steven Lloyd (also a director of the company) sings in the bass section. So, just the hint of a connection then!

Meanwhile, Jeff Rooker, first bass and rep for Felinfoel Brewery, generously applied his influence in persuading Felinfoel to provide support by way of very smart white polo shirts bearing choir and brewery motifs.

The attractive ensemble should help members to identify each other, when for example, they next present themselves to Alwyn Humphreys for scrutiny of performance at the Neath practice late October prior to Albert Hall 2009 in company with other local choirs.

Now then: Gentlemen of Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and surrounding area, look at the photos. Do you not aspire to, or dream of being a part of such a talented, friendly, harmonious group? Famous for the financial and cultural contributions to their local community and general all round good eggs, they obtain their pleasure from giving pleasure to listeners and organisations desperate for their help. Observers will note that they are not all mature citizens with time on their hands; the choir have their young bucks too, age being no barrier to membership!

So what is required of a chorister? Well, an ability most people possess, to sing reasonably in tune, to work as part of a team, to commit to Tuesday night practice and concert dates, and a desire to give something back to a community in which one lives. New choristers are assessed, receive all the help they require to settle and get a friendly welcome.

So why wait? Go along and try it, nothing to be lost, everything to gain, sit and listen, feel the power, be part of something special. Be something special. Be a chorister!
