Sir,

Just a couple of observations regarding the Gatehouse scheme saga.

Firstly, the fact that small, local cinemas can have a huge appeal. If anyone is in any doubt, I would urge them to visit the Rex's website http://www.therexberkhamsted.com">www.therexberkhamsted.com. The Rex in Berkhamsted is a revelation and sells out almost every night. The cinema has sumptuous seating, a good wine list, serves delicious snacks and shows a new title most days. It is inexpensive and run with a huge degree of passion and flair.

Were Tenby to have such facility, it would draw people from far and wide and easily eclipse Carmarthen's rather bland offering.

Secondly, I can only agree with the many who have expressed their dismay at the state of dereliction and neglect which greets anyone arriving at the Gatehouse site. Frankly, any owner/developer with any consideration for the community and its reputation as one of Wales' premier holiday destinations would have either temporarily landscaped the area and provided seating or erected robust and appropriately decorated hoardings.

One can but hope that Pembrokeshire Coast National Park takes robust action to remedy the situation.
