Tenby residents are facing a slight increase in the town precept for 2015/16, after local councillors this week agreed their budget plans for the year.
At Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, members unanimously supported the budget, with the Band D equivalent precept levy increasing to £58.42, up by £1.65 on last year.
"Council will see that the total planned expenditure budget is £5,078.59 higher than last year, mostly to mitigate against potential cuts in Pembrokeshire County Council service provision," the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, explained in his report to members.
"With expected income marginally increasing also, this gives a precept requirement of £154,296.20, an increase of £4,873.59 (3.26 per cent) on last year.
"With an upward revision in the Council Tax base this year, the Band D equivalent precept levy will be £58.42, a £1.65 increase on last year," he continued.
The report explained how expenditure on Christmas lighting during the year had been higher than anticipated as winter storms again caused more damage to displays which required replacing.
It was noted that as per resolution of the council, the floral budget had been increased by £3,400 to cover projected costs of providing bedding plants following a reduction in county council funding for floral displays in the resort.
Grant funding for the De Valence Pavilion had been kept at existing levels as the town clerk was aware that the Trust had a number of further building improvement projects earmarked for the year.
Mr. Davies also explained in his report that he had removed the provision for 'dog waste bags', but as resolved by the council, kept the £2,500 provision within the cost centre and allocated it to the new budget head of 'town maintenance, enhancement and regeneration'.
