Town councillors have moved quickly to clarify that any skate park built in the town, would not mean the construction of a large concrete structure.
When discussing the possibility of the facility being introduced at the Jubilee area at a meeting of Tenby Town Council, the town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, said he wanted to alleviate any fears that locals had about the construction impacting on the area.
"People in the vicinity have voiced their concerns, but a skate park wouldn't mean the erection of a huge concrete area that you might have seen elsewhere; it would simply be the introduction of wheeled play provision to facilitate skaters within the existing play area at the Jubilee," he said, explaining that he was still waiting to see all the prospective designs.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans, told members that she had recently attended a meeting where Planed were involved and she had picked up some useful information on materials that could be used within the skate park scheme.
She hoped that when the next stage of the development process was reached, a meeting could be held to involve some of the youngsters who would use the facilities, to get more of their ideas.
Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown hoped that the town council's working party that would be in place to discuss the skate park, could involve some young skaters and their parents, to work together and find ways of securing funding for the scheme.
