There was standing room only, the last time Pembroke-based amateur drama group The East Flyover Company performed its dramatised version of 'Lark Rise' - Flora Thompson's much-loved story of rural life. On that occasion, the play was performed as a 'promenade production' with members of the audience standing throughout and following the action around the hall. "It worked very well and the people who came along and entered into the spirit really enjoyed it," said Flyover spokesman, Brian Rowe. "Unfortunately, however, quite a few people were put off seeing the show because they weren't prepared to stand for a couple of hours. In fact, so many people asked us if we would put the play on again, for a seated audience, that we have booked the Torch Theatre, Milford Haven, for a couple of nights in February to perform 'Lark Rise' as a stage play rather than a promenade play." Nearly all the actors in the original cast will be reprising their roles in the play, although one or two new faces have joined the company and a couple of extra musicians have been added to create a nine-piece folk band which will occupy the theatre's orchestra pit. "It is the first time the Flyover Company has been back to the Torch Theatre since we performed 'Diawatha' there 10 years ago," added Brian. "Torch director Peter Doran was one of the founder members of the Flyover Company, so it is good to be linking up with him again in what is the company's 30th anniversary year." The East End Flyover Company will be performing 'Lark Rise' at the Torch Theatre on February 4 and 5.
