The new 'Sir Galahad' is the third RFA vessel to bear the name and has just returned from Norway. Its last courtesy visit to Tenby was back in 1988.
The original 'Sir Galahad' was hit by a bomb and then sunk during the Falklands War, with the then commander of the ship, Captain Philip Roberts DSO, later becoming involved in a special appeal organised by the RFA to help fund a lifeboat in memory of those who lost their lives during the bombing.
The result was Tenby's 'RFA Sir Galahad' lifeboat, which on Wednesday will be launched, with members of its crew taking a trip around its rather larger namesake.
