Is it a 'sign of the times?', local councillors asked this week, as many believe that there are too many signs on display throughout the town advertising hotels and public houses. The matter was discussed at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council following correspondence from Pembrokeshire County Council's traffic engineer, Ben Blake. Mr. Blake drew members' attention to a request from a Tenby hotelier regarding the issue of individual signs for properties within the walled town and along Narberth Road. Councillors had previously opted for a stance on generic signs only, believing that individual signs would set a precedent for the town. "Personally I think that there are more than enough signs up already," said Deputy Mayor, Clr. John Griffiths, with his colleague, Clr. Mike Evans, preferring the generic option, rather than an individual advert for premises. Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane suggested that councillors should embark on a walkabout of the town to survey the situation and then discuss the matter again after their findings.
