Sunday saw members gather in the Sensory Garden to celebrate the news that Saundersfoot Community Council had successfully negotiated with Pembrokeshire County Council for the freehold of the garden to be transferred to the community council.
This means that the future of Sensory Garden has been secured for the community.
As part of the freehold transfer, there will be a condition that the land is not built on and remains a garden for the use and benefit of the residents and visitors to Saundersfoot.
A delighted community council chairman, Clr. Phil Baker, and his fellow councillors would like to express their thanks to Mr. Barry Cooke, head of property, Pembrokeshire County Council, for the ease with which the discussions progressed and swiftly concluded.
There has been much speculation in recent months about the possibility of the Sensory Garden being developed along with the proposals for the Old Coal office and lawn, with the transfer of the freehold, those fears are laid to rest.
Highly scented scrubs and bushes have recently been purchased to reinvigorate the garden, but there is still much work to be done to maintain and tidy it up before winter.
If you have an hour to spare and could assist with this come along on Saturday, November 21, at 10.30, to the Sensory Garden and join councillors in the big autumn tidy up!
