Anyone walking along Tenby's beaches this week will have been amazed to see large numbers of starfish washed up.

Having not experienced any particularly adverse weather, and with an offshore pollution event being both highly unlikely or species specific, the South Wales Sea Fisheries Committee believes this is a natural event, possibly associated with spawning.

"It has followed exceptional equinoctial tides centred on March 11 (full moon) before the new moon on the 26th and a general increase in temperatures," said director Phil Coates.
