Last Monday, Kilgetty U13s cricket team won their second game of the season by 99 runs, against a young Stackpole side.

Kilgetty batted first and captain Josh Bevan with wicket-keeper Jake Marsh opened the proceedings.

Unfortunately, the temptation to hit the ball in the air was too great for Josh, who was caught by Matthew Jackson in the second over, having scored a quick fire 12 runs.

A few minutes later, young Richard Cope befell the same temptation and was caught by Josh Davies in the fifth over.

In the next over, Huw Davies gained the scalp of Alan Townsend, who scored five, followed two overs later by Andrew Evans, who returned to the clubhouse after scoring 11.

In the meantime, Jake Marsh was quietly increasing his score, with three 4s, and five 2s, which saw him quickly reach 31, forcing him to retire and leaving James North to continue the good works in his absence.

Chris Watkins was caught behind in the 15th over after scoring a single, necessitating Chris's twin Grant to enter the match. Eventually James also had to retire, having scored 33, including an amazing seven 4s, Grant scoring nine not out.

It was always going to be too much for the young Stackpole side, with seven batsmen scoring less than 12 runs between them. 'Mr. Extras' top scored with 30. Alan Townsend and Andrew Evans had a wicket apiece, with James North 2 for 10 in his four overs.

Kilgetty Under 13s are rapidly improving with every game and are giving their large following some glorious cricket.
