A second Jobs and Skills Fair is to be hosted in Pembroke Dock.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Workways+ team, the event aims to bring together those looking for work with local employers.

Workways+ is an EU-funded project which works with long term unemployed and economically inactive people to help them overcome barriers to employment and volunteering.

The Fair is being staged at Pembroke Dock’s Bridge Innovation Centre between 10 am and 2 pm on Wednesday, June 13, and is open to anyone to attend.

Ellie Brick, performance and quality manager at Workways+, said that the employers taking part will be looking to recruit and urged those attending to take a CV with them.

Ellie explained: “Building on the success of last year, the event will give employers and supporting organisations a chance to talk to people about the opportunities they have available and the skills and qualities they are looking for in an employee.

“There are currently vacancies in retail, construction, health and social care and leisure and tourism as well as other industries so it could be a possible life-changing event for some people.

“Having the opportunity to talk directly to recruiting managers is an opportunity not to be missed.”

As well as information on apprenticeships and training opportunities, Business Wales are hosting a start-up and self-employment workshop between 10.30 am and 11.30 am.

Workways+ is backed by £17.5m from the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. The project is led by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council in collaboration with Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion County Councils.
