Police have confirmed that the body of a male person found near the slipway to the town's South Beach was that of Mr. John David Sharland.
A retired civil servant, 60-year-old Mr. Sharland was a native of Manorbier and had been visiting family in the area from his home in London.
He had not been seen since around 7 pm last Wednesday, May 22, and was discovered shortly before 6.30 am.
Mr. Sharland had been reported missing by family members the previous afternoon, Thursday, May 23, and an extensive search, involving coastguard teams from Tenby, Manorbier and St. Govan's, police officers on foot, the force's helicopter and dog handlers, was carried out along the coastline and headland around Manorbier, as well as the village area.
HM Coroner has been informed and inquiries into Mr. Sharland's death are continuing.
