Community councillors, members of Pendine Chamber of Trade, Ministry of Defence representatives and council officers got together at a Nantyci seminar to discussed ideas and funding opportunities for Pendine and Llanmiloe's future regeneration. The group have agreed to generate ideas and suggestions for several enhancement schemes and tourist attraction projects capitalising on their defence of the realm heritage - with a long established MOD presence - and the community's historical sands of speed reputation. Chamber secretary, Eleanor York, said: "It is really satisfying that we have the might of the county council's expertise and support to develop our ideas. "We accept that a lot is down to us coming up with ideas. Now we have to crack open opening funding avenues to achieve our ambitions. "We are 16 businesspeople determined the only way is up for Pendine." Pendine Community Council clerk, Chris Delaney, said: "There is determined mood to force a sea change for the future of Pendine. "It is a community with so much to offer both its residents, holiday makers and attract many more visitors. "We are determined to press on with enhancement schemes building on our established attractions at our fabulous coastal resort and possibly establishing a few more. "With the experience of the county's officers we are confident we can put together an acceptable projects action plan to meet the criteria of funding partners. That is now our immediate and urgent aim and to seek partnership support to help sustain the community." Carmarthenshire council chief executive, Mark James, said: "Pendine's community is to be commended for its enthusiasm and vision for the future. "Funding bids have to be community driven with evidence of community need. The chamber and community leaders are showing a great will and determination to succeed which the county council is supporting wholeheartedly."
