Last Thursday saw the Tenby unit of the Sea Cadet Corps undertake their annual Royal Naval Inspection. Commander J. Binns RN, DAO South West Area, conducted this. All cadets were present, in their best uniforms, for the formal inspection of the unit guard, divisions and facilities available. The commander spent time speaking to every cadet about their experiences and hopes within the unit. The cadets, who enacted a scene from the gun- deck of a British man-of-war and a game of trust by cadets being guided, blindfolded, through objects just by sound commands, then entertained him. Cadets took all the leading parts during the evening, from parade commander, guard commander and all the posts for evening colours. Evening colours was undertaken entirely by the junior section and they must be congratulated on their performance. The evening ended with the commander giving his verbal report on the evening's events, which he enjoyed very much, and the presenting to the unit of their efficiency award for 2005. A very large crowd, including the Mayor, the unit president, representatives of local organisations, parents and committee members, also watched the evening, which concluded with a buffet held in the Sailing Club. Tenby unit is open every Tuesday and Thursday, 7 - 9 pm for juniors and seniors. Contact the commanding officer on (01834) 845231 for further details.
