Last Friday, 10 local primary schools took part in a football festival. Held at The Greenhill School, Tenby, the festival was organised as part of an accreditation programme which has been designed between the FAW Trust and McDonalds. The schools have signed-up to a programme of structured regular football sessions which afford all children the chance to learn and enjoy football. The sessions are delivered either by teaching staff or FAW qualified coaches. The programme and festival have been organised by FAW football development officer, Gerry Rigby, with the assistance from the Pembrokeshire sports development department. Gerry was delighted with the festival, saying: "This was an excellent advert for schools participation, with all the children taking part, and although the programme is offered regardless of ability, the standard of football was in fact very high. "Plans are in place to extend the scheme to more schools, particularly in the south of the county." Participating schools were Prendergast, St. Mary's, Letterston, Holy Name, Orielton, Monkton, Llangwm, Hubberston, Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, and Pembroke Dock Community School. The finalists were St. Mary's and Prendergast, with Prendergast the eventual winners. The children, staff and coaches who took part in the festival are pictured above.
