Nearly 1,000 schoolchildren from across south-west Wales will enjoy the magic of maths this month as part of a new educational package on offer at Wales' largest theme park.

Secondary school pupils from Pembrokeshire, Carmarthen, Aberystwyth, Swansea, Llanelli, Burry Port, Port Talbot and Mid-Glamorgan will experience Oakwood Park's new interactive maths-based workshop Mathamagics which runs on weekdays between September 10 and 21.

Said Oakwood's education officer: "This new maths-based workshop is aimed at Key Stage 3 pupils and has received endorsements from a number of qualified maths advisors. The programme is designed to present practical mathematics to secondary school pupils in a fun way using puzzles, activities and logic games to deliver difficult subjects like probability, Fibonacci, topology and mental arithmetic."

The Mathamagics educational package comprises an interactive show followed by an educational workshop and 'hands-on' sessions using 35 science exhibits in Techniquest. The package is the latest addition to Oakwood's educational programme, following close on the heels of two earlier science shows aimed at Key Stage One and Two pupils, namely 'Science from the Toybox' and 'Pushes & Pulls'.
