During this week 42 primary and infant schools across Pembrokeshire have been doing their bit to help worthy charities. As part of a project involving the Observer's associate company, Radio Ceredigion, they have been making their bi-lingual musical contributions to a double CD which will be available from the end of next month through the respective schools and during the Urdd National Eisteddfod. The recordings, generously sponsored by Western Power Distribution, have featured school groups numbering just a few to over 70 from Croesgoch to Tenby and Hubberston to Boncath and were made at the Town Hall, Pembroke, Queen's Hall, Narberth, Theatr Gwaun, Fishguard, Boncath Village Hall and the Hook Sports and Community Centre. Tracy Carr, community liaison officer for WPD, said her company - who do not advertise - were delighted to assist local schools in this practical way. "We feel that the children are benefiting from learning to sing and respond to music and at the same time are doing something really worthwhile for the less fortunate amongst us," she added. The charities which will benefit from part of the proceeds of selling the CD are Age Concern (Pembrokeshire) and The Shalom Trust.
