Sir,
In response to Mr. Blackwell's letter printed on Friday, February 25, which appears to be over-biased to the few local entrepreneurs, I wish to point out all the benefits which J. D. Wetherspoon would bring to the town.
One only has to travel to Haverfordwest or Carmarthen to see the numerous local people who shun Tenby in favour of J. D. Wetherspoon. Having arrived in these towns, everyone completes their weekly shopping and is supplied with victuals at a reasonable price.
The facility survives the long winter months and does a roaring trade throughout the whole year. As a result, many small businesses flourish because of visitors.
For about six months a year, poor old Tenby is a ghost town and should welcome J. D. Wetherspoon to compete with Haverfordwest and Carmarthen.
Mr. D. S. Griffiths,
Saundersfoot.
