As the nation prepares to celebrate the day of our patron saint, one Pembrokeshire village in particular will be pulling out all the stops to make this year's St. David's Day one to remember.

Saundersfoot Chamber for Tourism are staging a three-day St. David's Food and Craft Festival.

An exciting new event, the festival will be held undercover on the village's Harbour tomorrow (Saturday), Sunday and Monday.

There will be lots of food and craft stalls, which will have a St. David's theme, thus promoting Pembrokeshire and local produce.

One of the highlights is sure to be the Cawl Cooking Championship of the World and Elsewhere.

All pubs, restaurants, hotels and guesthouses are being invited to enter the cawl trail by producing their own unique recipe for cawl, with members of the public visiting each establishment for a tasting, before voting for the 2004 world champion.

And on Monday, St. David's Day itself, the organisers hope local children will join in the fun and drop in on the celebrations wearing their traditional Welsh costumes.

Said Chamber member, Mrs. Lilian Lang: "This is a new event and we hope lots of people will come along and join in the celebrations."

The festival will be open from 11 am until 5 pm each day.
