Pembrokeshire Macmillan’s annual Welsh Cake Day in Saundersfoot was a huge success over the weekend, with a team of volunteers and Tan-y-Castell Bakery donating the dough, again cakes were rolled, cooked and sold throughout a cool but dry day.
Saundersfoot was teaming with people enjoying the cafes, shops and of course the Macmillan Welsh Cakes!
The day was made with the playing of Lyn and Keith Sandall who entertained the crowd in the queue and the passers by, and all were very grateful for the help of Macmillan friends Suzanne Evans, Sally North, Sara Hicks, Sarah Whiddett, Brenda Lawrence looking resplendent in her National dress, Gini Lort-Phillips and Gitty on holiday in the village from Austria! Together with a group of stalwart volunteers, it was certainly a day to remember.
Grateful thanks go to the Saundersfoot Harbour staff who kindly erected and removed the gazebos.
With kind donations for Keith and Lyn’s musical renditions, in addition to buying Welsh Cakes, the contribution towards Macmillan for the day was almost £630 - giving very needy funds to help people in Pembrokeshire diagnosed with cancer.
Thank you also goes to everyone who helped in any small or major way and to everyone who came along to support and enjoy ‘the best Welsh Cakes I have ever tasted’ said one of the grateful punters!
