Saundersfoot almost swept the board at the West Wales Ladies Bowling Association finals on Saturday. They won five out of the six titles at the event held at Pendine, the home green of this year's president, Mrs. Ella Lodwig. Saundersfoot started the day well, winning all three singles competitions. The club's Welsh international, Ann Lewis, was crowned singles champion after beating fellow county skip, Jean Harris, 21-8, while Mary Cummings won the two-wood singles, 17-3, against Jeanette Phelps, of Neyland. Shirley Spiller, meanwhile, completed the hat-trick. She lifted the Autumn Cup after a closely fought 21-15 battle against her club-mate Marion Evans. In the pairs, Ann Lewis teamed up with Gwenda Rees to beat last year's runners-up, Ann Thomas and Maureen McCue, of Haverfordwest, 20-17. The triples went to Tenby's Helen Baggott, Julia King Thomas and Ceris Hewlings, who just pipped Saundersfoot's Audrey Williams, Alma Howells and Lorna Bissell 19-17, while the rinks was won for the second year running by Viv Edwards, Cynthia Morgan, Mary Cummings and Marion Evans, who chalked up a 27-10 victory over Alison Redman, Joan Dorling, Vera Williams and Mair Marquiss, of Tenby.
