SAIL TRAINING

There is no sail training this weekend due to the regatta at Laugharne. See below for further details.

LADY HELM

Unfortunately, conditions were not suitable last Saturday for the Lady Helm to take place.

We have now re-scheduled both the Junior Regatta and Lady Helm races. They will be held on Friday, August 31, at 4 pm and 6 pm, respectively. Following these two events, there will be a barbecue at the clubhouse, to which everyone is welcome.

SUNDAY RACING

There were 10 dinghies out on the water for the race last Sunday evening. The race officer for the day travelled to Saundersfoot for the weekend especially to run the race, only to slip and hurt his back on Sunday morning, making it impossible for him to carry out his duty. Hope you are recovered now Colin, we will see you again soon.

The race was run from one of the patrol boats, with the course set at PHA x 3, with the Optimist finishing after one lap and the Topper and Solo finishing after two laps. After handicaps were applied, Nick J. in his Contender took third place, Andrew in his Laser took second place and John and Paul in their Fireball took first place.

This Sunday there are two races starting at 10.30 am. We look forward to seeing you all on the water. Don't forget the club will be open when the racing is finished.

LAUGHARNE

REGATTA

This weekend is the annual regatta at Laugharne. On Saturday morning there will be various feeder races to Laugharne, one of those being from Saundersfoot. Please contact Angela Hollies on (01994) 427767 for full details.

WHIST

Last Monday, the whisters arrived early and some managed to fit in games of pool while others just socialised and admired the view.

Highest score - K. Sutcliffe; first lady - V. Burrows; second lady - G. Irvine; first gent - J. Davies; second gent - P. Quinsee; longest sitter - E. Jones; lowest score - E. Sutcliffe.

We are not at full capacity yet, so please do come along and join us. Doors open 7 pm and game starts prompt at 7.30 pm.

Note there will be no game on Monday, August 20, as we have the Lark National Championships on that week.

CRUISING

Our cruiser sailors are conspicuous by their absence at the moment; hopefully there will be enough of them around for the planned race this Sunday. Check out the clubhouse window for further details.

BUILDING FUND

The building fund is now well under way, with donations coming in steadily. There will soon be a record of the total achieved on view in the clubhouse, so please help us keep the total rising.

ROCKETS AT TENBY

We wish Tenby Sailing Club all the best for the Merlin Rocket National Championships that start tomorrow (Saturday).

TIME FOR A LARK

We are holding the Lark National Championships at Saundersfoot Sailing Club from August 18 to 24.

This will be a very busy but enjoyable week with races alternating between one and two per day, starting at 11 am each day. Races will be run over a mix of course formats, with both gate and line starts.

With 50 or more double-handed dinghies expected, we will always be glad of more helpers, especially during the day in the clubhouse, so if you would like to be involved for just a day or for the week, please contact Tricia on 814470 or Sue 812039.

Happy sailing.
