Saundersfoot Rotary Club has proudly unveiled a special commemorative fish plaque at the seaside village’s harbour to mark the Club’s 50th anniversary and honour the dedication of its members and supporters over the past five decades.
Positioned on the wall of the harbour decking, the plaque serves as a lasting tribute to the many Rotarians and friends of the club, past and present, who have generously given their time and effort to support charitable causes and community projects.
Since its formation in 1976, Saundersfoot Rotary has raised substantial funds for a wide range of local, national and international causes, while also playing an active role in supporting and enhancing community life in Saundersfoot and the surrounding area.
The Club’s achievements have been made possible through the commitment of volunteers who have devoted countless hours, entirely free of charge, to organising events, fundraising activities and community initiatives.
A spokesperson for Saundersfoot Rotary spokesperson said: “This plaque is a celebration of the people who have made Saundersfoot Rotary what it is today. It recognises the dedication, generosity and community spirit shown by generations of members and friends who have worked tirelessly to raise funds, support those in need and make a positive difference both locally and internationally.
“We are proud to honour their contribution as part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.”
The unveiling forms part of a series of activities marking the Club’s golden anniversary year. While reflecting on the achievements of the past 50 years, Saundersfoot Rotary also looks forward to continuing its tradition of service and community support for many years to come.
The commemorative plaque stands as a permanent reminder of Rotary’s motto - ‘Service Above Self’ - and of the lasting impact that volunteers can have when they work together for the benefit of others.
