Hebron Baptist Church
Last Sunday, Mr. Anthony Standing led the worship and opening prayer. Mr. Don Mallams and Mrs. LaDonna Mallams brought readings from John 10: 1-18 and Psalm 23. The pianist was Miss Helen Standing and the welcome stewards were Mr. and Mrs. Taberer. Basing the theme on the shepherd and the sheep who follow, Mrs. Mallams also turned to the book of Acts saying that the book begins with the coming of the Holy Spirit, then Paul's conversion. By chapter nine, Peter is the focus of attention and the location is Joppa. Dorcas was a woman devoted to the service of others, making and distributing clothing to the poor. Her death brought great sadness. As soon as Peter heard, he went straight to the home of Dorcas and God performed a great miracle. Jesus had raised Jairus's to life, and the same power raised Dorcas. Both the Lord and Peter used similar words commanding the dead to rise. When the people saw Dorcas alive and well they didn't praise Peter, but the Lord God who brings life to the dead. This miracle demonstrated the power of the New Life Jesus offers. We can bring new life to others through what we do. Can we see God's hand at work around us? Not just at church, but in local communities, worldwide, we need to be responsible for spreading the good news. How do we achieve that? One way is by aid support, other practical support and living out our faith in daily life. Can people see Christ in us day by day in what we do and say? Just as God worked through Peter, He can work through us. This is how we live out the message of the gospel. People may not believe what we say, but you can be sure they will watch everything you do. Those who are in His flock have eternal life. The church is a place of support, a place for strength and encouragement when we are down. We can share our faith and encourage each other, but the church is also about bringing others into fellowship and helping them to become sheep of His flock. We must not forget our responsibility of reaching out. What does new life in Christ mean to us? Does it give us encouragement to go out and share by words and actions that others will see and find their way to Him? May we meet the challenges put before us sharing the good news in words and deeds, following Christ's example. On Sunday at 11 am, the speaker will be Mr. David Williams with activities for young people in the hall during the message. Crusaders Tuesday Club meets from 6-7.30 pm. The Oasis Lunch Fellowship is on Wednesday at 12.30 pm, while Bible study is on Thursday at 7.30 pm. We give you a warm welcome to our services and activities.
