TV presenter, Jane Harvey, showed her passion for the environment last Wednesday evening at the Energy Savers launch in Saundersfoot. Energy saving helps prevent climate change, and is finally being emphasised globally as a very important topic. Jane explained to the audience of householders and business owners at the Gower Hotel, that we can all do something to reduce Climate Change. She then discussed the aims of the Energy Savers scheme with the project co-ordinator, Jo Brookman from PLANED, and Sue Mackie, business environment co-ordinator from ARENA Network. All householders in South East Pembrokeshire will receive a Home Energy Check form to assess energy usage. Once returned, a report will be sent giving advice on how fuel bills can be reduced, energy saving measures and grants that are available to help. Householders will also receive a voucher for a free energy Saving Light bulb. This can be collected at participating local shops and post offices. Businesses, farms and community buildings are being offered free energy audits. A consultant will visit at your convenience and assess energy and water usage and waste management. A confidential report will help businesses etc to become more energy efficient without adversely affecting business and offer support and advice on further energy saving measures. Grant advice will also be available as well as advice on how to progress toward the Green Dragon Environmental Standard. Businesses, farms and community buildings can sign-up for their audit by ringing Jo Brookman on (01834) 862119 or by attending the four Open Days held in the area. The first Open Day is on Saturday, April 29, at St Johns URC Hall, Warren Street, Tenby. Anyone can pop in between 11 am and 3pm and sign-up, get advice and see displays on renewable energy systems and energy saving measures. The second Open Day is on Saturday, May 13, at the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot at the same time.
