A community event focusing on coastal erosion and the theme of ‘Our Changing Coast’ will be held at the Regency Hall in Saundersfoot tomorrow (March 10).

This will be an engaging and informative evening exploring the past, present, and future of our coastline, and how environmental changes are shaping the village and surrounding area.

The event is open to anyone with an interest in the future of Saundersfoot and its coastal environment.

The programme will begin at 5.30pm with a presentation by local geologist Sid Howells, who will provide expert insight into the geological history of the coastline, the natural processes influencing coastal change, and the factors contributing to erosion in our area.

His talk will help set the context by explaining how our coastline has evolved over time and what current patterns indicate for the future.

The evening will also feature a specially commissioned storytelling performance by professional storyteller Phil Okwedy. Commissioned by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Phil has created a bespoke piece exploring climate change and sea level rise.

Through storytelling, he will offer a thought-provoking and accessible perspective on environmental change, helping to connect scientific understanding with lived experience and community heritage.

At 7pm, a complimentary light buffet will be provided for attendees, offering an opportunity for informal discussion and community engagement.

Members of the youth group are also warmly invited to attend and participate in the evening, as this is an important opportunity for younger generations to engage with conversations about the future of our coastline.

County councillor for Saundersfoot’s south ward, Cllr Chris Williams said: “This event is intended to be inclusive, informative, and forward-looking, bringing together residents, families, and local stakeholders to better understand the challenges and opportunities associated with coastal change.

“I would encourage anyone interested in the future of our village to attend.”
