Saundersfoot will feature on the latest episode of ITV Cymru Wales' countryside series Coast and Country, tonight (Friday).

Coast and Country presenter Andrew Price embarks on a walk from Saundersfoot, accompanied by Tessa Pearson of the Saundersfoot and District Historical Society.

Beginning at Saundersfoot harbour, they walk through a series of tunnels, which once brought coal to the town, towards Coppet Hall Beach, where Andrew finds out more about how the beaches were used in 1943 for a full-scale D-Day training exercises.

Andrew said: "When most people visit Saundersfoot they could be forgiven for thinking that it has always been a tourist destination, but thanks to my knowledgeable local guides I now see the area in an entirely different light. Saundersfoot's industrial and military past is fascinating."

Andrew also meets Pembrokeshire Ramblers Chairman George Allingham at Wiseman's Bridge who accompanies him on a section of the route before finishing his walk exploring the Stepaside Iron works and Grove Colliery.
