In addition to their weekly Tuesday evening activities of games, quizzes, crafts, songs, stories and videos, young people from seven to 12 years old who are members of Saundersfoot Crusaders had fun bringing the spirit of Christmas to the village when they visited homes in the area to sing carols before Christmas. The evening raised £126 in sponsorship and donations plus many offers of sweets, cakes and biscuits and drinks for thirsty singers along the way.
The money will be used to sponsor a little Indonesian boy throughout his education and training until he is able to work and support himself.
Through Compassion UK the Crusaders are able to send £15 a month to meet all his needs for clothing, health, school books and education. Photographs and pictures of the area have been sent to Indonesia along with a letter and birthday cards for the boy's fourth birthday last week.
As a part of a national Christian youth organisation, Saundersfoot Crusaders are encouraged to help those in need. Last year they raised £75 for three children in Chernobyl to attend summer camp for a week and in the previous year their efforts raised £265 for Guide Dogs For the Blind.
The Crusaders will continue their efforts with a coffee morning and cake and bring and buy stalls at their regular meeting place, the Church Hall, Hebron Baptist Church, Church Terrace, Saundersfoot, commencing at 10.30 am on Saturday, February 16.
