HAVERFORDWEST 60 SAUNDERSFOOT 73
Saundersfoot travelled to Haverfordwest for their second group game in the Welsh Carruthers Shield competition and ran out winners by 13 shots.
Having previously defeated Pembroke Dock, and with a home game against Neyland to come, this was a must win game for the Seasiders.
With several first team regulars missing, Saundersfoot called in Keith Rowlands and Barrie Lee from the St. Issell's squad and also included Berwyn Dennis as skip, making a welcome return to the club after an absence of several years.
Winning on three rinks and only a three-shot defeat on the fourth rink saw Saundersfoot win a close game that they always edged.
On 10 ends, the lead was six shots, on 15 ends this had extended to 13 shots and the closing ends were very much 'bat and pad' (to borrow an expression from our cricketing friends) to ensure the victory.
Rink scores (Saundersfoot first, Haverfordwest skips only):
B. Deeley, T. Lamkin, J. Dugmore, S. Poole 20; P. D. S. Jenkins 14.
K. Rowlands, B. Lee, A. Brace, J. Moffat 19; Paul Jenkins 12.
J. Dennis, N. Ruff, M. Brace, B. Dennis 19; D. Pollock 16.

SAUNDERSFOOT 57 (0) TENBY 94 (14 pts)
Following their five-match unbeaten start to the season, Saundersfoot were soundly beaten last Saturday by an excellent team performance from their close rivals Tenby.
The Seasiders struggled to get going on a glorious afternoon for bowls and found themselves 15 shots down at the halfway mark. The Tenby lead had extended to 21shots on 15 ends and using all their experience in the final part of the match, romped home by 37 shots.
This victory was sweet revenge for Tenby who had suffered their only league defeat of 2008 at the Saundersfoot green and the villagers will have to regroup in the next few games if they are to put up a challenge for the County Shield.
Rinks scores (Saundersfoot first, Tenby skips only):
A. Brace, P. Blayney, J. Jenkins, M. Dennis 13; A. Muskett 26.
G. Cavell, M. Brace, J. Moffat, B. Dennis 14; S. Evans 25.
J. Dennis, N. Ruff, A. Brain, S. Dick 12; P. Carpenter 17.
R. Kennion, T. Lamkin, J. Dugmore, S. Poole 18; P. Day 26.

ST. ISSELL'S 68 (12)
The gentlemen of St. Issell's travelled to Milford to play St. Kath's in a second division game and returned home with 12 of the 14 points at stake in a narrow four-shot victory.
Having lost their first league game, this victory gives St. Issell's a big boost of confidence for the games that lie ahead.
Under the captaincy of Stew Howe, the squad have had several get-togethers and the spirit in the team is excellent and hopes are high for a better season than the last few years.

ST. ISSELL'S 99 (12 pts) PEMBROKE PATER 59 (2)
St. Issell's continued their division two campaign with a resounding 40-shot victory over Pater at home last Sunday.
On a glorious warm afternoon, the villagers took full advantage of the excellent fast playing surface and at tea had raced into a 23-shot lead, which they extended in the second half.
On rink one, Lionel Allen, Dennis Reed, John Austin and skip Stewe Howe led the way with a 28-shot win, whilst on rink two, Brian Deeley, Gwynfor Davies, Bill Glynn and Barrie Lee weighed in with a 12-shot victory.
On rink three, St. Issell's suffered their only defeat when the rink skipped by Keith Rowlands went down to the Pater four led by the evergreen Steve James.
On rink four, Mike Carr skipped Derek Rowen, Don Stokes and Don Pope to a four-shot win in a close game against Bob Duncombe, the Pater captain, and overall, the margin of victory reflected the Seasiders' superiority on the day.
