St. Issell's Ladies picked up four points when they beat Neyland at home on Saturday afternoon.

Ann Lewis's rink of Chris Haley, Brenda Davies and Ceris Hewlings set-up the win for the team when they chalked up a seven-shot victory over Val Hubbard's quartet.

Gwenda Rees, Shirley Spiller, Amanda Lewis and skip Beryl Lewis, meanwhile, came ever so close to making it a maximum six points for the team.

They went into the last end level with their opposition, but they were just pipped at the post by Margaret Sanders and co, who took a three to win 22-19.

Ladies' county trials

Saundersfoot is well-represented in Sunday's WWLBA trial being held at Tenby, the home of this year's county president, Audrey Owens. Good luck to all.

Fixtures

Tomorrow (Saturday), St. Issell's Ladies entertain Whitland at home, while on Sunday, Saundersfoot men travel to Haverfordwest to play Castle in a Division One clash and St. Issell's men head to Milford to play St. Kaths in Division Two.

Saundersfoot Ladies also make their way over the Cleddau Bridge on Tuesday to play Milford Ladybirds. All games are at 2 pm.

Saundersfoot are back in Carruthers Shield action on Wednesday when they play Haverfordwest away at 6 pm.

Saundersfoot commenced their 2009 Carruthers Shield campaign with a convincing victory over Pembroke Dock.

Only two shots up after five ends and 13 up after 10, the seasiders slowly pulled away to win by 24 shots.

On rink two, Joe Dennis, Nev Ruff, Alan Brain and skip Steve Dick led the way with a convincing 21-shot win over Ernie Sturley's four.

Rink two saw a ding dong battle between the home rink led by Myrddin Dennis and the visitors led by Dave Halwood.

The 'Foot were seven shots down on eight ends, six shots in front on 19 ends and the tussle ended all-square after the visitors picked up scores of a two and a four.

Rink three saw Saundersfoot's only defeat when Paul Blayney's rink went down by nine shots.

On rink four, Steve Poole continued his early season surge, accompanied by veterans Roy Kennion, Terry Lamkin and John Dugmore by defeating Brian Dowling's rink by 12 shots.

Mixed results for Saundersfoot Ladies

There have been mixed results for Saundersfoot Ladies in their first two league games of the season.

They were just pipped by one shot in their opening game against Pendine.

Viv Edwards, captain Angela Roberts, Elaine Shaw and Lorna Bissell went down 20-13, while Elsie Pendlebury, Anne Evans, Anne Davies and Marion Evans picked up two points when they won 19-13.

Club secretary Marion and her rink also chalked up success against Fishguard at home on Sunday resulting in an overall win for the side and four more points in the bag.

Gemma Amos, Joyce Waters, Anne Davies and Marion ran out 21-10, with a special mention to Anne who had an excellent game at third.

The other rink of Viv Edwards, Alwen Hughes, Elaine Shaw and Lorna Bissell were beaten 21-14.
