The Saturday Swingers held their finals day at Tenby Golf Club last Saturday.
The course was in magnificent condition and the weather could not have been better.
The competition was an 18 hole stableford event and the scores could not have been closer.
There were three scores of 37 points, the winner of the 'Swingers' shield being Roger Schooling, who beat Peter Rossi on the back six. Viv John took third place.
Leading scores were as follows: Roger Schooling, Peter Rossi, Viv John 37 pts; Bill Davies 36 pts; Dave Merrit, Martin Morris, Gary McNeilly 35 pts; Ross James 34 pts; Brian Diment, John Gillespie 33 pts.
The Phil and Ralph Johns Shield for the 'Swinger of the Year', the best twelve stablefords cards in the year counting, was won for the second year running by Brian Diment with 418 points. Runner-up again was Peter Rossi with 408 points.
Leading scores were as follows: Brian Diment 418 pts; Peter Rossi 408 pts; Gary McNeilly 407 pts; Paul Heywood 406 pts; Viv John 404 pts; Gary Willars 403 pts; Dai Cope, Neill Lovatt 402 pts.
The presentations of the trophies were made at a dinner held at the clubhouse that evening.
Before the dinner their was two minutes silence for two swingers who passed away in the year. Founder member, Phil Johns and Dr. Hurle.
Chairman Dai Thomas presented the shields to the winners and the money prizes.
Nearest pin: Viv John (6); Steve Sharma (8); Micky Bassat (9); Phil Keating (12); Viv John (17).
Longest drive: Martin Creese (2 and 10); Roger Schooling (14); Paul Heywood (16).
There were four two's Viv John (2) Hugh Roberts and Peter Rossi.
Chairman Dai reported on another excellent year and thanked Lynne and her staff for a really superb meal.
Special thanks again goes to Eamon Maher for all his hard work he does for the Swingers.
All the figures he produces every year is amazing and the last four months could not have been easy for him. Thank you Eamon.
The evening concluded with a very moving speech from Phil Goodridge.
