The fun involves donning a red Santa suit complete with white beard and red hat to take part in a tour of the town centre for a 3K stroll, walk, jog or run. The route is wheelchair-friendly and the main roads will be closed for one hour with the permission of Pembrokeshire County Council highways department. Safety will be paramount, so the Rotary members will have volunteer marshals at strategic corners around the town aided by some of the Narberth First Responders and first aiders.
After entering online and paying a nominal fee before the closure deadline at the end November, participants will have just one week to limber up before collecting their suits at the rear of the Queens Hall from 10.30 on the Sunday morning, December 8. A ‘warm up’ exercise will take place at 11.45 and then the event starts at 12 noon, with the first stage around the Town Moor footpaths before proceeding to Bloomfield, the Rugby Club footpath circuit, then meandering up and down the High Street, finally finishing at the Rugby Club car park. At the finish line, they will be greeted by a real life lookalike Santa on his sleigh, courtesy of Narberth and Whitland Round Table, presenting sweets to the children and medals for everyone.
Inside the clubhouse, steward Sheena Conbeer will be providing a free glass of mulled wine and a mince pie to the adults. Hot meals and other refreshments will also be available for purchase in the Lounge Bar where Andrew Jenkins will have his festive disco in full swing to round off an enjoyable charity event. A free raffle of 10 prizes purely for the entrants (based on their entry number) has been generously sponsored by local businesses.
