New, clear sign is needed to advise cyclists to dismount before entering the Coppet Hall to Wiseman’s Bridge tunnel, a Saundersfoot county councillor has suggested.

“The reopening of the tunnels has been a positive development, bringing increased foot traffic to the area, particularly along the popular coastal path,” said Cllr Chris Williams.

“However, I have received several reports of cyclists not adhering to safety signage and, in some cases, reacting with verbal abuse when challenged.

“I want to remind all users that these tunnels, especially the longer, darker section, can be difficult to navigate for pedestrians, particularly those accompanied by children, dogs, or using mobility aids.

“Fast-moving cyclists ringing their bells for others to clear the way is not only inconsiderate, but presents a genuine safety concern. The path is shared, and mutual respect is vital,” he added.
