Safety advice signage in Saundersfoot showing the dangers of entering the water without the relevant equipment needs to be more visible to residents and visitors, a county councillor for the seaside village’s south ward has stated.
Cllr Chris Williams said that he had recently held a productive meeting with John the new Saundersfoot harbour manager.
“We discussed many points that have been raised recently with the former Chief Executive, including the current signage for bylaws and water safety that are hidden away amongst the greenery on the harbour,” he explained.
“This should be more visible so that residents and visitors are aware of the dangers of entering the water without the relevant equipment.
“We discussed the location for the sign and it will sit on the harbour land before proceeding down the slipway.
“John will work on this with the Commissioners to make sure all the relevant safety instructions are placed on the sign. This has to be clear for all to see.
“Whilst in the location at the top of the slipway, we discussed the camera position overlooking the Pembrokeshire County Council bins.
“This will be slightly adjusted so it will catch another angle that, currently, we don’t have.
“This camera will be able to assist PCC and the Harbour with visitors who fly tip locally,” he added.
