Wiseman's Bridge runner Lorna Sutton is taking part in the 2012 Wales Half Marathon in aid of Pembrokeshire Citizens Advice Bureau.
Lorna, a former Stepaside and Greenhill school pupil, is currently employed as a relationship support manager with Barclays Bank Plc in Cardiff.
Lorna's mother, Hilary, is a volunteer generalist adviser based at the Bureau's Pembroke Dock office.
"My mum has volunteered with Pembrokeshire CAB since 2009," said Lorna, "and I know that like all charities they rely upon donations to deliver the best possible service to our communities. Barclays has agreed to match fund my sponsorship money up to £750, so I am hoping to raise as much as possible in order for more people to benefit from their hard work."
The half marathon starts at Pembroke Castle, at 12 noon on Sunday, June 10, and takes runners via Freshwater East and Manorbier, before finishing at Tudor Square, Tenby.
This will be Lorna's second charitable run, having completed a half marathon in a full Santa suit last December in aid of 'Accounting for Africa'.
Pembrokeshire CAB manager, Nicola Roguski, said: "I am delighted that Lorna has chosen us as her nominated charity and wish her the very best in her training. We provide an invaluable service to the residents of Pembrokeshire and have seen an increase in demand over recent months. I fully appreciate that in the current economic climate people may find it difficult to donate, but the offer of match funding by Barclays Bank Plc means that every pound given is effectively doubled."
Donations can be made by mobile phone by texting PCAB43 £** to 70070 (amounts have to be £2, £5 or £10; the money is taken as part of the call charge so payg customers have to have enough credit available). Alternatively, cash or cheques can be paid in person at Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest CAB offices. Cheques are to be made out to Pembrokeshire CAB and can also be posted to the Manager, Pembrokeshire CAB, 43 Cartlett, Haverfordwest, SA61 2LH.
