Did you play rugby for Greenhill Grammar School between 1949 and the time the new secondary school opened in Heywood Lane? If so, two former players Carey D'Arcy and Tom Nicholls would like to hear from you. They are hoping to organise a reunion dinner next year to commemorate the 60th anniversary of when rugby took over from soccer to become Greenhill's main sport. It is hoped that as many ex-Greenhillians who played for the 1st XV will be able to attend the event at the Belgrave Hotel, The Esplanade, which is owned by Malcolm Thomas, a former rugby captain in the mid-1950s. The dinner is scheduled for February, although at this stage, that date is flexible. They are also appealing to former players for any memorabilia they may have which can be displayed during the evening, and would particularly like any old copies of the Greenhillian magazine and photographs of the teams. And to celebrate the reunion, Carey and Tom are hoping to produce a commemorative brochure. Any former players who would like to register their interest in attending are asked to telephone Carey on 02088689478 or Tom on 844423 as soon as possible.
