Thirteen pupils from the Narberth CP Achool received their Gold, Silver and Bronze awards from Clive Davies, chairman of Narberth Rugby Club junior section, recently.

The boys spent the winter improving their rugby skills and developing their team play at an after-school rugby club organised by Narberth RFC and the school.

The scheme is part of an initiative developed by the rugby club to give the opportunity to as many young people as possible to get a taste of rugby whilst also participating in a team sport.

The project is sponsored by SportsLot Wales and Frolic Consultancy, and in the coming season the rugby club plans to expand this scheme.

Schools interested in participating in the scheme can contact John Hodgeon on (01834) 831682.

The boys proudly showing off their awards are, Gold Award – Joe Allen; Silver Awards – Kyle Quartermaine, Michael Jones, Rhydion Williams, Tony Evans and Geraint Nicholas; Bronze Awards – Jack Houser, Sion Morris, Harry Palmer, Nicholas Davies, Sam Cowlan, Kristian Howell and Nathan Lloyd.

Their teacher, Mr. Paul Harries, played a great part in the organisation, as did rugby club coaches Gethin Jones, Andrew George and Charles James. Their efforts helped the boys to win the area rugby final this year.
