THE new show by well-known artist royal academician Philip Sutton is being officially opened at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery today (Friday).

Entitled Paintings from Crete, the exhibition is to be opened by Nick Ainger.

Philip attended the Slade School of Art where his contemporaries included Craigie Aitcheson and Euan Uglow and was elected a royal academician in 1988.

The following year, he moved to Manorbier where he continues to live and work.

His pictures are recognisable by their irrepressible colours and vibrancy of style.

Philip was the first artist to exhibit in the museum's New Art Gallery when the extension to the existing art gallery opened in 1995.

Philip will also be participating in a special event on Wednesday, September 26, during the Arts Festival.

Entitled Nick Gordon in Conversation with Philip Sutton RA, tickets for the event can be purchased through the Tenby Arts Festival on (01834) 843839/843403. Spaces for this talk are limited.

The sales exhibition runs until Sunday, October 7.
