An estimated 10,000 people joined in the fun throughout the day on Sunday to make the first of Tenby Round Table's two annual Summer Spectaculars an outstanding success.

Massive crowds filled Tenby Harbour and thronged every vantage point around the North Bay to enjoy seven hours of entertainment and help raise thousands of pounds for deserving causes.

Table chairman Chris Evans was delighted with the first event's success.

"It was absolutely fantastic," he said. "The weather was perfect and it was great to see so many people having so much fun."

Sunday's event kicked off at 3 pm with the zany circus antics of Jugglestruck delighting young and old alike.

Later, it was the turn of the ever popular Bradley Bear and Friends, courtesy of main sponsors Kiln Park, to enchant the crowds, before a dazzling display by the fleet-footed Celtic Claddagh Irish Dancers.

Interspersed with the live events on the main stage, children and adults were able to bop along to Wacky Wayne Wharton's Disco until early evening when all eyes centred on the North Bay where a Sea King helicopter from RAF Chivenor joined forces with local RNLI teams for an exciting display of air/sea rescue skills.

Focus then switched to Harbour Beach with a dramatic rescue simulation by Tenby Auxiliary Coastguard.

Attention then returned to the main events stage for an evening of superb live music from top bands The Rainkings and Talisman, before the skies above the bay were lit up in a blaze of colour by an awe-inspiring firework display, co-ordinated by Joe Caneron, of Flameburst FX, which brought the Spectacular to a rousing conclusion.

Throughout the day there were also charity stalls, refreshments, pig roasts, burger stalls and many other sideshows to entertain one and all throughout the harbour area.

"Everyone got into the party spirit and we raised a substantial amount of money for charity," said chairman Chris.

"Thanks must go to main sponsors Kiln Park, local businesses for their support and to everyone involved in any way. Thanks also go to all the people living in the harbour area for their patience and understanding over any disturbance caused.

"May I also add my personal thanks to Tablers, former Tablers and all the friends of Tenby Round Table who worked so hard throughout the day.

"Also thanks must go to Pembrokeshire County Council's cleansing department for all their help in clearing up after the event and to Mr. Booth and Serendipity Holdings Ltd. for assistance in counting the money.

"Most of all, may I, on behalf of Tenby Round Table and the worthy causes our Spectaculars support, thank everyone who attended the event and gave so generously on the day."

Round Table will now be looking forward to the second Spectacular on August 19.

Format will be along similar lines, although the second Spectacular will also include the aerial acrobatics of the Microlease Aerobatics stunt plane.

"Although it will be hard to top the first event, we are hoping to do even better next Sunday," remarked Chris. "So we'd be delighted if everyone heads on down to the harbour, puts on their dancing shoes and joins in the fun!"
