Nearly 50 children and their carers from the Narberth and Whitland area, together with Rotarians and friends, descended upon Folly Farm recently for a memorable day out.
The adventure was part of the nationwide 'Kids Out' event organised as a special treat by the Rotary movement for children all over the United Kingdom.
Whilst the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland arranged the day for Tavernspite, Templeton and Whitland Primary Schools, Rotarians all over Pembrokeshire and the UK were accompanying children and their carers on similar events.
Over 1,000 children from Rotary District 1150 alone, which covers South and West Wales including the whole of Pembrokeshire, together with carers and Rotarians, enjoy a fabulous day out at various locations on the second Wednesday of June each year.
"This is a special day for Rotarians as well as the children," said Rotarian Derek Williams, president of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland.
"It is a pleasure to witness the joy expressed by all those who come. The smiles on their faces is sufficient recompense for those of us who help during the day," he continued.
President Derek thanked the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, who generously gave a packed lunch to each child.
The children also receive a special T-shirt and some pocket money from the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland.
"We are especially grateful to everyone at Folly Farm for their generosity and for the wonderful welcome they have given us," continued president Derek.
"They have gone out of their way to make this a special day. It will be long remembered by all those who came along and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion," he added.
