Before the start of the evening, members stood in silence in memory of much-respected past president Ron Vaughan who recently passed away after a long illness which he bore with courage, fortitude and dignity.
Rotarians, partners and members of Inner Wheel, all wearing a fetching, ingenious or outrageous hat for the evening, joined president Keith Leighfield and his wife Jan to add a dash of colour to a grey January night. Hats off to everyone, for there was 100 per cent participation for an idea that aroused much amusement during the course of the evening.
To cap it all, the president awarded prizes for the best hat worn by a lady and a gentleman. The winners were Rotarian Sam Harrison and Inner Wheel president Helen John.
So successful was the evening that it may become an annual event, but that's confidential, so keep it under your hat!
