The District Governor (South Wales) has just visited Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club with his wife Edwina. There are 73 Rotary Clubs in the district and Rotarian Bob Higgins will visit each one of them at least once during his year of office. Bob is a member of Newport Club.

Bob's message to the club was from Rotary International, which has one-and-a-quarter million Rotarians.

His main message was to continue to raise funds towards Polio Plus, the scheme which has been in operation for over 20 years to raise the revenue to finance the World Health Organisation in its effort to eradicate polio from planet earth.

Bill and Melinda Gates had promised 355 million dollars towards this end if Rotary International can raise a further 200 million dollars to continue the fight.

There are only four countries left in which polio still kills and cripples children, Nigeria, India Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Rotarian Robert Elward thanked Bob and Edwina on behalf of the club and wished them a safe journey home.
