Celebrating their golden wedding anniversary today (Friday, January 29) are popular local couple Roger and Doreen Watkins.
Roger, born and bred in Tenby, met Doreen when she came to Manorbier Army Camp. After charming her, they married at the pretty St. James’ Church in Manorbier.
They lived in Tenby raising two daughters Michelle and Melissa. They have enjoyed the job of being grandparents to six boys and are now loving the joys of three great-granddaughters.
They moved from Tenby 16 years ago, but only as far as Pentlepoir!
“Dad is a friendly outgoing chap, while mum stays in the background a bit more, but they complement each other so well,” said daughter Melissa.
“They look back over their 50 years and remember many hard, tough times, but lots of laughter and fun. The success of their marriage, my dad tells me, is remembering that mum is normally right!”
