Among matters discussed at the June meeting of Robeston Wathen Action Group were the following: Lime Kiln Walk: The owners of the land had been contacted about the group's interest in taking greater responsibility for it. Tree clearance and tidying up arrangements were to start. An approach would also be made to Friends of the Earth, who were undertaking a litter pick in Narberth on July 23, to see if they might extend it to the Lime Kiln Walk. Funding was to be applied for from Planed etc. and fund-raising activities were to be organised. The Princes Trust were also willing to help. By-pass/speed limits: The chairman had attended a meeting of the community council. There was much past and ongoing discussion and consideration regarding speed limits in the whole Narberth/ Robeston Wathen area. Speed cameras were also discussed and the chairman would write to the Welsh Assembly and Pembrokeshire County Council about these. The general feeling, however, was that as the bypass would alleviate or solve the problem and was hopefully imminent, no major changes would be agreed before this. It was also the hope of the meeting that a fatal accident would not occur in the meantime. Bus shelter: This could be a good project for youth in the summer holidays, who could be invited to come up with designs. The police in Narberth would be contacted to let them know when painting was taking place and hopefully get traffic cones and police presence to improve safety. Social events/fund-raising: A family oriented sponsored walk/picnic was proposed for the whole village, with the suggested date being August 13. An evening event was also suggested, as well as a family quiz night in the autumn. Any other business: It was greed that the name of the group should be Robeston Wathen Action Group. Pete Belcher agreed to be chairperson, while Marian Graceson agreed to be secretary. A treasurer was still needed, however. Discussion also took place regarding verges and attractive planting. Eric Feetham at Narberth had been spoken to and there was a 'Pride in Community' grant which may be suitable. Planed would also be asked if there was any funding available. Pete Belcher offered his sons as labourers and Mary Moncrieff agreed to consider, collecting plants and organising planting. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 12, at 8 pm. All residents of Robeston Wathen are invited to attend.
