St Oswald’s pupils in Jeffreyston have proudly unveiled a new safety sign aimed at reducing speeding near the school.

Junior Road Safety Officers, Elin and Pixie, from St Oswald’s VA School are very proud of the new sign that has been erected outside the facility, after a ‘Design a sign’ competition was held as they noticed that cars were travelling too fast in our school grounds.

“They had many entries for the competition, and the job to choose the 'best' design was a difficult one! Therefore, the JRSOs asked the Governors for their opinion and Nell won with this fantastic design,” explained Rachel Grieve from the school.

“The girls decided to ask Signspeed, from Sageston, if they could assist with creating the sign and they not only created the sign, but they also donated it to the school and installed it last week.

“We are all very grateful for their time and their donation, which we hope will remind parents and visitors to our school to slow down.

“We are very proud of our JRSOs - they have carried out an excellent job which will be in our school for years to come, keeping the pupils safe.”
